IDENTITY AND ACCESS MANAGEMENT: INTEGRAL TO THE FUTURE OF IOT SECURITY
Security relies on the principle of trust, and in IoT deployments, each device needs an identity to form a secure management system.
Modern identity and access management (IAM) systems, in which IoT devices are assigned identities which link to associated policies and relationships, need to cope with countless devices and be able to authenticate them with low latencies.
IAM is yet to find its feet in the IIoT market beyond niche use cases and custom deals. However, as more companies turn to IoT, it is likely that we will see efforts to introduce industry-specific IAM standards and policies to make the authentication practice commonplace.
