Step 1:

Getting started

Establish a clear purpose

What do you want to achieve by running this event? Start your research by thinking about your event objectives and purpose. These could be linked to generating sales, attracting new employees, building relationships or launching a new product. Communicate these with your team and set up clear goals.

Identify who you want at your event

Your event audience will help you decide the format of what kind of event you want to deliver. Think about who you want at your event and define this audience by factors such as job role and industry. You can invite existing contacts or reach out to wider connections to encourage new relationships.

Choose your event type

This will be guided by your objectives and audience type.
Events could include:

Networking drinks or dinner

Relaxed atmosphere to foster new business relationships or build on existing ones

Breakfast briefings

Expert analysis on a specific subject with refreshments and networking

Hackathon or codefest

Sprint-like event where subject matter experts come together to produce a working tech solution in a fixed time period

Workshop

Peer-to-peer networking centred around building knowledge in a particular area through thought-leadership and activities

Product launch or demonstration

Exclusive access for a select group to find out about and test a new and exciting design

Round table

Intimate group discussions chaired by a moderator to encourage active debate

Choose your venue

The venue sets the tone for your occasion and finding the right one can make or break your event. After you decide who you want to attend and what type of event you want to deliver you should have a good idea about venue capacity. Narrow your search by choosing preferred locations and speak to several venues to draw up some comparisons and record your findings.

Please note: All events running as part of London Tech Week must take place in London, i.e. within the M25 motorway perimeter.
